Ford not willing to help - phone question

Hi everybody,

after contacting Ford directly and being told that they're not gonna help non-US/Canadian customers, I found this board and hope you can help me

The problem is my dad's Town car built in 1990.
In the front-passenger's armrest is a built-in phone, I guess its the factory one. And he wants to use it.
Problem is we are living in Germany so we have a different mobile-net compared to the US.

The question is:
What is to be modified to use this phone here in Germany? If it's possible at all.And where are the electronics of the phone located?

These discussions are from later Town Cars, but they definately apply to your questions:

There's reference to the operators manual, connection's and what you can expect from the system. Basically, these phone systems are Analog and nearly all current subscriber systems are running Digital therefore, the older Lincoln phone systems are unusable.

The control box is in the trunk, on the "package shelf" under the speakers, or beside the spare tire. The premium stereo system amplifier is also there so you'll most likely find two or three boxes there.

You might also consider this option:

Nope

All the way through 2000 and maybe beyond, Lincoln used Analog.
