ralliart questions

i now have a ford ranger, the slowest thing on earth. i work at a mitsubishi dealership where i can get good discounts. i want a new car, a fast car. i can afford an evo, considering i can get one for about 23k, but i cant afford the insurance. i was thinking more towards the ralliart. is this a decently fast car? does anyone know any specs? can anyone tell me some stuff that will make me want to buy this car? ive driven the evo, all the editions and i like them, they're fast. i havent driven the ralliart, my lot doenst have any yet. are they jsut a little bit slower or is it like night and day. any info would be great. Thanks

Re: ralliart questions

its like night and day. The Ralliart is only a little faster than your ranger and may even feel slower from a dig.

Re: ralliart questions

okay my friend owes a 2004 ralliart. and that thing is a blast. with just running around town all the civics and acuras you find all you have to do is downshift which will put you right at 3-4 rpms and then mivec kicks in and you never see them again. i love the car. the interior is nice and doesnt need anything to look good. can you tell i work for mitsubishi too.

Re: ralliart questions

yes, the OZ rally is really slow, its slower than your ranger, its just a base model lancer with pretty wheels and a slightly nicer interior.

well its not slower than my ranger, nothing is. it goes 0-60 in 12 sec. i drove the es model at work, and its not horrible. i want the look of the oz, but speed is cool. if i got an 0z, and put an air filter and a turbonator on it, thats a $70 supercharger thing, could it go 0-60 in like 8 sec? i put a turbonator on my truck and it took 0-60 from 14 to 12, so i think they are the cheapest way to get a lil, very lil, something. i guess my question is does anyone have an oz that put minimal amount of money in it, and saw a difference. i jsut dont want a slow car.

Re: ralliart questions

the turbonator is a scam and does nothing except waste your money. If you think you noticed a difference then its only in your head. The thing is proven to do nothing.

i know, thats what i thought too. but i tested 0-60 time 5 times before and after. it REALLY was a 2 full second difference. also i test my gas mileage EVERY time i fill up. i noticed a 30 mile gain on an 18 gallon tank. anyway, i test drove an oz today and i didnt think it was horribly slow. when you guys say its slow, are you comparing it to a fast car. i mean, its faster than most non-vtech civics. RIGHT?

Re: ralliart questions

a non vtec civic is another slow car. Most minivans will thrash a Lancer OZ or Civic DX and they are some of the slowest new cars on the road.

Also a 30 mile gain over 18 gallons is certainly possible due to just thinking about getting good gas mileage and doesn't mean anything. The turbonator isn't doing anything, give up.

Re: ralliart questions

no, an OZ with an intake has 130 hp, a Ralliart has 160 hp. Intakes only had 3 or 4 hp if you're lucky.

Re: ralliart questions

there are no superchargers that ACTUALLY WORK that cost less than $1000 All intakes are the same except for the filters. Your best bet is to buy the cheapest intake made for your car that you can find, trash the filter that comes with it and replace the filter with a K&N.
