stalling

I know it has been posted before about stalling on a 1988 Chevy Silverado, but i need to try to get a better answer. I also have a 1988 Chevy Silverado. I tried to start my Silverado and it felt like it had a dirty fuel filter because it was sputtering. I change the fuel filter and i'm still having this problem. I know had a problem like this on my 91 Ford Explorer. The mechanic told it was a bad intake gasket. The mechanic told me when he sprayed carburator cleaner near the intake the vehicle ran fine. I sprayed carburator cleaner on the intake of the silverado and the vehicle ran fine. At the same time I sprayed carburator cleaner in the intake. I also sprayed some into the carburator and it ran fine. I don't know if it could be an ignition module or an intake gasket problem. Can anyone help with a reply.
