Angry 96 ciera won't start

My '96 cutlass ciera, will not stay running. It will turn over but it will not run for even 30 seconds. We checked all the sensors, they are fine. We checked the fuel pump, and filter they are ok too. We checked the fuses, they are ok. No one can figure out whats wrong with it. Not even our mechanic friend down the street. He checked all the sensors, checked the pressure, for the fuel pump. It was good. We did replace all the sensors. The car won't even stay running long enough now, to check anything else. I don't know much about cars, but the car ran great in Jan. 2005 when we moved from Ohio to Florida. Then we were here about a week, and it started stalling all the time. We had to put it in neutral and rev the motor to keep it running, just to get it home. The car has been sitting in my driveway since Feb.2005 and no one can figure it out to this day. Our next attempt was to replace the computer in it. Does anyone have any suggestions. I'm about fed up with this car. I only had it for 2 months then this problem. If you need anymore info about it, just let me know. I'll give you all I know.

Possible IAC not working, throttle position sensor not working, fuel pump failing, or failed diaphragm in EGR valve (don't remember which style this year had). Have a GM Dealer hook up a TECH2 and take a snapshot as it starts. Can't be too much looking to do if it won't run for 30 secs.

Some bad fuel pumps will go out after a few minutes of running, but will run OK initially. That's my guess.

Re: 96 ciera won't start

It really needs to be scanned. On some cars, there's a switch that'll stop the fuel pump and cut the engine off if it doesn't "see" any engine oil pressure in a short amount of time. If the oil pressure comes up on the instrument panel when the engine starts, you might try checking the fuel pressure while the motor's running and see if it looses pressure when the motor dies.

Well i would say it is the fuel pump but i could be wrong also check the FPR fuel press reg to see if there is any air in it.Plug what is the psi of the fuelk pump put a guage to it and see what it is putting out if low get a new 1 and a new fuel filter.

Ps also some fuel system cleaner helps alittle sometimes to if it is clogged.
