well fords finally admitted a fire hazard with the 1997-2003 expo's! (among other models ) seen it on the mozilla firefox webpage the other day, seems the cruise control shut off at the brake master cylinder can short out and cause an engine fire, this is a constant "hot" wire, and according to the statement, there's a thin film between the senser and the hydralic brake fluid resavior, and this film can fail, and cause a fire.
not sure if this quick fix would work, have'nt checked the type of wiring yet, but adding an inline fuse with a low amp fuse, would maybe prevent the short circut/ fire?
any help out there folks?

Replacement/upgraded speed control switch is part of Ford recall. Had mine done already, takes about 20 min and it's free at any Ford dealer regardless of mileage.
