Backlights are out

Yesterday i was getting my stereo better grounds because it was just screwed in with the climate controls. I had 2 grounds going there. One i know was for the stereo but i dont know waht the other one was. I then place both grounds to the back of the stereo and i went to drive and noticed when i turn my lights on the backlights dont turn on. This is pretty confusing..
Can someone figure this out? Would a bad ground cause the backlights to die?

one way to check.

When you turn on your headlights do the side markers or front turn signal lights turn on?

Okay, it was the fuse.
But yes, the turn signal lights did work.
