99 Intrigue, water on passenger floor

We have had a lot of rain in Ontario and suddenly there is water on the floor of the passenger compartment. This occured while the car was sitting in the drive. No forced entry from driving. I could find nothing out of place under the hood around the windshield and nothing inside to trace to.

Any ideas of what to look for or where to look??

I may have found the answer in another thread. There is a drain under the hood on the passenger side near the pollen filter. Does someone have complete instructions?? As to what type of "L" drain that I am looking for or is it obvious once I get in there???

Well, I changed the cabin filter and the drain was not plugged. Any othe ideas??

sometimes water can leak in from the water barriers inside the door panels, don't know about this model specifically but many cars if the plastic inside the door comes loose at the bottom water can run in. It used to happen to my Jetta, and my Focus. And I've seen GM cars leak there too. Especially Grand Ams - just a thought

You may also want to check the cowl area and see if water is pooling in there - possibly drains could be plugged with stuff from trees, etc - I always keep that area vacuumed out real well.

are you sure its rain water and not anti freeze from heater core just a thought good luck

There is a drain that is plugged unless you smell and is anti freeze as other person has stated. I have replaced 4 fans due to water getting into fan. I have not found the right drain yet either.

I read here a while ago that Olds left off a piece of weatherstripping somwhere near the opening where the cabin filter is under the cowl below the windshield on the passanger side. Even if you don't have a filter, the opening is there for one. The strip is supposed to divert water away from the hole but if it's missing or dislodged water goes into the filter holder and into the fan housing. Happened to me but I can't figure out how to get the cowl off or the wiper arms to get to this area to fix the problem. Any suggestions?

To get into the cowl area, you have to remove the wind shild wiper arms and there is a piece of plastic shroud that covers that area. you have to use pliers to remove two clips. Once off, you should be able to look around in there. I fyou find a hole, fill with silicone caulk and put back together. Note: clips that you pried off to remove plastic shroud piece, us silicone caulk on threads when pushing back into holes.
