i think this is pretty simple. my stereo will not keep the time or the preset stations. it is aftermarket: old, am/fm cassette, lol. i did a search and found that the orange wire is for the memory and according to the sticker on the top of the stereo, it is hooked to the right wire (gr w/ wh stripe). anyway, i checked for voltage on that orange wire with the key off. and i got 12V (roughly). doesn't this go to say that my head unit is crap? thank you for reading!

Re: simple stereo problem...
i had that happen to me also i had a brand new pioneer headunit that would not keep any of my stations or time, take it to a stereo shop that knows what they are doing, i found out that i mixed one of the wires up when i used the GM radio adapter that was making me lose all my memory settings, hope this helps

Re: simple stereo problem...
i don't know much about 82-92 camaro's i have a 93 so the reason that your car isn't starting is beyond me, maybe the ignition could be bad down to the wrong firing order? does it crank over or does it not even attempt to start?

Re: simple stereo problem...
You're backwards, the orange is battery hot, on at all times. There's a yellow wire which is the fused feed, hot only when the ignition is on. There's anotehr yellow which is left rear speker out.
