Turbo wastegate/ boost control

I have a 2.0 Turboed grand am, and I was wondering if anyone knew what would happen if the vaccum line from the wastegate of the turbo to the boost solenoid was unhooked?? I was wondering because the car has been sitting there and im working on it, and i recently realized that that vaccum line wasnt hooked into the solenoid. would this cause the car to shut off after a while?

Its definately not going to run right, it should shudder at idle just like having any other vacuum hose unplugged, also it will not send the appropriate singal to the wastegate solenoid, this may or may not cause damage to the turbocharger.
