What can I say, I hate looking at my antenna, when I'm not using it. Not to mention having to get out, and take it off, if I feel like going through a car wash.
So, my question is this: Is there a good antenna alternative? I would love to have a power antenna, but I don't think these trucks came with such an option, did they? I have heard of in dash antennas but I don't know of anyone that has used these. Is there an aftermarket power antenna for these trucks? Has anyone used or know if these in dash antennas are any good? Is there another alternative that you know of, aside from listening only to CD/Mp3s, that I haven't mentioned? Thanks for your time and effort, all opinions and suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Jake

Re: antenna alternative....
What about a roof mount Euro Antenna like the ones they use for Satellite Radio? It mounts to the roof of the truck and they run the cable underneath the headliner.
Just a thought; I can't see why an in dash antenna wouldn't work. Years ago I use to have an 83 Supra and couldn't find the wiring for the stock Antenna. So I mounted one to the inside of the fenderwell and ran the wire up inside for my radio. It worked great.

Re: antenna alternative....
Why the hell did GM take the antennas out of the windshield? The antennas on GM trucks from 73-87 were located IN the windshield glass. I never understood why they quit doing that.

metra electronics makes a amplified antenna that sticks on the top edge of a windshield and plugs into a radio and then u hook up ignition power to it and they seem to work good. was designed for show cars. they run about 50 dollars and u can get them at a circuit city.
