2000 Trooper Front Differential Maintenance

I went to drain and refill my rear and front differentials yesterday. The rear went fine. But I couldn't find a drain plug on the front. Just a fill plug. The manual states that the oil in the front differential should be changed out at 15K mile intervals. But I see no way of doing this.

Can anyone enlighten me on how to perform this maintenance on the front differential?

The Trooper has TOD and SOTF.

Re: 2000 Trooper Front Differential Maintenance

I ran into the same problem with my rodeo. There doesn't seem to be a drain plug for the front diff. I just ran across this last night though. If you look at the bolts that hold the diff on, the bolt located at 5 oclock is the drain plug. I am not sure if this is true, but that is what the manual I have says. It may be the same for the trooper. I haven't checked my Rodeo yet either, but I am hoping this is the case, because the drain plug will make it a lot easier.

Re: 2000 Trooper Front Differential Maintenance

The 5 o'clock bolt works as a drain on my '90 trooper, FYI. Just drained it last week.
