should I buy?

hi all first time in the monte carlo forum. looking for some info on the 00 to 02 year model. thinking of buying a gently used one if i can find one. anybody tell me of anything i should look out for, any troubles that seem to plague these year models? any options that are must haves, any info. would be helpful i own a silverado and this will be the second monte carlo i have owned but many years have gone by since my 77. just like to know if they are still as good a car as they used to be.

Re: should I buy?

I drove a 77monte for ten yearsbought it in 87 great car.Now own a pristine 85monte love it.Had a 97 truck engine went.Love the 2002monte have rented one many times.love the car but cant afford to keep it running.Point im trying to make is the newer the car is the less work you can do on it.it seems like it has to go to the shop for every thing.I bought my last two cars off e-bay from private owners.I went 600 miles to get one drove it home.went 400 miles to get the other drove it home.Buy private (little old lady or man)ask seller if he would drive his mother on a 500 mile trip in this car(this always gets them)they'll either hang up on on you or say yes(great charachter check). Most important dont buy a car without getting a fax report.
