2000 Mc Ss

I just got a 2000 Monte Carlo SS and when I rev the engine it stops exactly at 4000 RPM. Is that normal? Is it like that to stop people from redlining the engine and doing some type of damage.

yep its a rev limiter...if you are driving it will redline at 5800-6200
