what times sould i be running?

Well this isnt the most correct question, but im just wondering around what 1/4 times do u guys think im running(we dont have a track here) i have a 91 CRX SI, it has a sohc ZC swap, bullfrog stage 1 cam, intake, cat-back exhaust, and a mugan chip that takes away the redline, so im shifting at 8,000rpm's, ive only raced 2 times, once againts a new mazda 3(and yes there fast 2.3 dohc, 168 hp) and i beat him by a full car, then aginst a 2003 honda civic Si with intake, headers, exhaust, and i beat him by a car and a half....so what do u think i should be running? thanks!

Re: what times sould i be running?

you're reving your stock d16a6 with a cam to 8k? You're an idiot. Did you even upgrade the valve springs and retainers? Do you thikn the main bearings can handle that? Cause I sure as hell dont. Have fun rolling a bearing or floating a valve.

But yeah, you should be running low 15s.

lolz, yeah i have swap to a jdm zc, with is *almost* the same as a d16, but it has high compression resalting in more hp(about 8-10) well, a sohc can easly handly a redline at 8,000, in fact single cams reach higher redlines safer then dohc, cuz theres less moving parts, and i have a ecu upgrade to help with that too....mugan chiped!

Re: what times sould i be running?

without an upgraded valve train you will have problems with the valves opening and closing correctly called VALVE FLOAT. they may either stay open or closed or open half way. you may not have those problems yet, but it is a big possibility....a "chipped" ecu means nothing when dealing with valve springs and retainers... your "chipped" ecu advanced the timing curve, adjusted the idle, and fuel pressure, maybe the redline correct?? and lighter retainers such as stainless or titanium will allow you to also rev faster and safer in conjuction with new stiffer valve springs. just an idea to look into. the parts must all work together to obtain the most and safest amount of power.

Back to the question...there are too many variables to guess..... sea level, heat, tracking, track conditions, rt, and mostly driver. i would hope for low 15's but expect mid 15's.

your ecu may allow you to rev high, but can your engine take high revs?

Re: what times sould i be running?

He's just another kid that see's a "Chipped ECU" on ebay that allows his car to rev to 8K, and thinks thats all he needs. Hopefully he'll learn.

Re: what times sould i be running?

eh i say low 16's, very high 15's at best....there's too many variables when street racing for it to be an accurate race..... and btw its pointless revving to 8k on that d16, by that time all your doing is making lots of noise, with NO power gain at all.....

Re: what times sould i be running?

hes got a bullfrog cam so its probably making power up there, maybe starts to stop around 7700ish but still I heard lots of good about that cam. but either way, that motor can't handle 8k revs on stock internals. I guess that ECU also upgraded all your bearings too huh? Damn I need to get me one of them so I can rev my dohc to 10k. I mean seriously, do you know ANYTHING about the internals of a motor and how they work? That motor was NOT meant to rev to 8k from factory. You're an idiot, have fun when you loose oil pressure and roll a bearing, or better yet, throw a rod.

hey dude why do u keep feeling the need to call this guy a idiot every reply u make on this post? If thats the way he wants to run his setup so be it.. no reason to down him by calling him a idiot. im sure he is quite aware of the ups n downs now more then ever on his rev limit.

alright this is to you, and the guy with the green crx, 1st off i didnt buy my chip off ebay, i got it straight from mugan,it doesnt just take away my redline, it advances my timming, 2end my cam alows me to increase my power band to 8,200rpms, 3rd the higher i rev it, in the next grear ill be closer to my peak torque and power band, and i do know that its dangerous to rev that high on a stock motor, im not a newB to street racing, this is my 3erd car, 1st honda, i have* a 1993 nissain 300zx, low 14's all motor(and i had that timed at a track in phx) whitch is dally drivin by my g/f, then i have my full race car, whitch is a 1991 talon(hence my name) whitch i had ran at the same track in phx, and that ran a 11.2(and i do have time slips), this is just my 1st honda im working, and i think u for the good input, but dont call me an idoit, cuz im not, just to let u guys know, so theres no confusion, i just order tien springs, and skunk 2 retainers for my head, and next week im sending it to bullfrong and im getting my head done up, port and polish, ported intake manifold, ported tb, valve grind, stage 2 cam, new computer chip, and some other goodies, and they promised me i could rev to 8,200 alllllllllllllllllll day, and have power up there too, not to mention a stock looking ZC that puts out over 180hp....=D
