Tranny Wiring
I am using a 95 manual transmission to swap into my friends 92 Automatic S13. I am just wondering about some of the wiring. I am not too concerned about the reverse lights, but I would like the neutral safety switch to work. Also, the crank sensor on the 95 is a little different. The 95 CS is a direct plug where in comes from the harness and plugs right into the sensor, and on the 92, it was a wire running up from the sensor and plugging into the harness. Please help guys, even if you might not be 100% sure on something. It would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Tranny Wiring
neutral safety switch would go in the same location in auto or manual, but the harness may be different. it should only be 2 wires regardless. its just a simple switch that provides ground to the ignition circuit when the clutch is in or car is in P/N.
crank sensor? are you swapping motors too? the only sensor on the tranny i thought is the speed sensor on the back by the driveshaft.

Re: Tranny Wiring
No, we are not swapping engines, believe it or not, the crank sensor is on top on the transmission. Is sits just on the top edge of the bellhousing.

Re: Tranny Wiring
reeeeaaaalllyyyyy... ok well i would think that it would be the same both cars have OBDI and manufacturers dont change something unless they really have to.
the harnesses should even still fit but if they dont just splice the wires together(solder w/shrinkwrap). and i would see about maybe zip-tying any spliced wires to something so they dont rattle loose

Re: Tranny Wiring
OK. I wired up the speed sensor, and now I am to the part that really matters. The Crank Sensor. We are taking the manual tranny out of a 95 to put into this 92, in which case everything has gone well so far. But the 92 crank sensor from the auto has 3 wires coming out of it and the one from the manual has only 2 wires. I was going to splice the ends together and plug and play, but I dont know what the 3 wires are for coming out of the 92 auto cranks sensor. I know power and ground, but what is the other one for? Does anybody have any wire Schematics or diagrams for this?

Re: Tranny Wiring
go to a nissan dealership and tell them what your doing and make them drag out their FSM. dont let them tell you they dont have them because they do. if that fails, go buy the chilton manual
