2 more reasons to get serious about my GSX
I've already been working out the next step I should take with my car. As it has 144K miles, I was thinking I might just consider it a lost cause and start putting away money for a WS6 or EVO. Tonight, though, revived the fire.
1st race: I was driving out with one of my buds to meet up with a professor. We're on the highway and I just crusining along at 5 over the speed limit. All of a sudden I hear the very distinct sound of a BOV next to me. I look over and see this crappy looking sedan. I figure I'm hearing things and resume my casual driving. Then I hear a few more spool up and blow offs unmistakenly from the crappy black sedan to my right with faded paint and the "smell" of a 80's vehicle. At this point I know hes trying to get my attention for a race and he obviously knows what he's doing. Crappy looking car, loud-ass BOV, messing with a GSX (not that a GSX is all that special but they are known for being quick-for-cheap even if mine isn't). This guy obviously knows what he's doing. I drop it down to third and mash the gas. My T25 didn't even have time to spool before I saw bumper not just walking, but running away from me. Galant VR-4. I had only heard about them through my DSM research but have never had the pleasure of seeing on. It had exhaust, definitely an intake (I could hear it through my closed windows). I caught up to it and tried a few more times with each bout ending the same, me seeing bright red taillights. I know my car is a dog in high speed runs (we started from between 60 and 75 each time) but if I'm not mistaken, he was AWD too so that didn't matter. It was great to see the potential of the 4G63 that I haven't begun to tap into yet. He was fiddling with something one of the times when I pulled up next to him which made me believe he had some sort of either EBC or some other tuning device. I pulled up to him one last time, gave him the thumbs up (which he returned) and went off on my merry way. 2nd race: On my back from meeting with my professor I was on the same road. I was still daydreaming about new ways to finance at least a new exhaust system and possibly a new turbo when I see blue headlights approaching quickly in my driver's side rearview. I secretly hoped that it would be some sweet car that wanted to race but guessed it was probably someone rushing somewhere as it tends to be the case in MA. Low and behold, the lights did not fly by me but the car lined up right next to me. I didn't even look over and just mashed the gas in 5th gear. The T25 spooled almost instantly but the race ended when I didn't downshift. The car turned out to be a blue STI. He flew by me so fast I had to hold my door shut lest it be blown off. I love the STI so I wanted to see what it had. I knew I didn't stand a chance. I drop it into 3rd and hurry next to it. I let off when our noses were about even. I wanted to make sure we both got the same jump. Needless to say we both gunned it about the same time but my wimpy car simply lacked the gusto in the fight. The STI pulled hard and kept pulling. We lined up a few time in a similar fashion to the VR-4 races. Each time the result was the same. I got a good clean look at SUBARU STI on the back of the car. It looked like he had the stock exhaust so the car might not have had any work done on it. It was simply more beastly than I could handle. When I got tired of losing I lined up with him and gave him a big smile and a thumbs up. He returned the gesture and sped off into the night. It was a lot of fun losing tonight. It made me want to really get into upgrading and tuning my car. In fact...I've already started looking into some bigger turbos while scribing my adventures...

Nice races man, love the car. The DSM is a good car to upgrade, there are alot of thing that you can to to them to get them to go. Drop some money into it and soon the sti will not stand a chance. Good Luck
