Highway run with a V6 'Stang

So as of recently, I haven't been poting any kill stories because non of them are really worth talking about. Mostly ricers, a couple more runs against my buddies ES300, and a run at doors from a dig against an IS300. Nothing really all that amazing to post about. However, today, I had a kill that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I was just out, wasting gas on my day off, when I cam across a black E46 325i, just like mine. I later found out it was moded slightly more than I, which I wasn't suprised about because we went from a roll at 60 up to 120, and I didn't pull past his door the entire time. Anyways, after the race, we gave each other thumbs up, and played a bit of cat and mouse through traffic. In the general fun of it, we must have attracted the attention of a recent model (not current, but last year) V6 Mustang, with the 35th aniversary body package to look like a GT, and some giant ass chromed out wheels.

After breaking through traffic, we were bothi crusing right next to each other at about 75 when the Mustang flew by, and hit the flashers. I look over to the guy in the other 325i and he gives me a "what the fuck was that all about look." I roll down my window, and so does he, and I point towards the 'Stang and shout "Lets have a little fun."

So we both pull up next to the Stang, and even though its a three lane road, I'm right behind the other E46, and hes right next to the 'Stang, and signals him to exit. We all exit, and pull into a gas station off the highway. Me and the other E46 owner, who was a pretty cool guy (mods were Dinan exhaust, intake, chip, and auto tranny software, exhaust sounded ok, but I still think if I get an exhaust I'm gonna go with RE) bullshit with the Mustang owner a bit, saying his car looked pretty fast, and asked if he wanted to run. We told him we were both modded, and I mentioned my CAI, and the other guy said all his Dinan stuff. The guy said his Mustang was stock, but he had a Nitrous kit installed. I'm trying not to laugh my ass off, and the other guy just says, "well lets see what you have." So they agree to race, and the Mustang guy says that since my car is pretty much all stock, he wont race me, so I say fine, I'll honk you both down.

We hop back on the highway, and even though its three lanes wide, I'm right behind the other Bimmer. We come to 60, I honk them down, and floor it, and me and the other 325i take off, and pretty much walk away from the Mustang up to about 130. We let off, and the other Bimmer guy his laughing his ass off, and gives me the thumbs up. I return it, and we part our seperate ways. I pull off, and end up at a light right next to the same Mustang. He looks over at me, and shouts over "I woulda destroyed you if I used the NOS!"

I just started laughing my ass off and shouted back for him to use it if he needed it to beat me. He said fine, and started reving. When the light went green, we both punched it, and I took it up to 90 (in a 35), and left him back by about a car length or so. I let him pull up next to me at the next light, and even though he has his windows down, he wont look at me. So I look over and shout, for the second time in my life "Wheres the NOS Hardass?" He gets mad, floors it through the intersection and turns (despite being in a non turn lane, and still having a red light). All in all...it was fucking hilarious.

Cliff Notes:
Played with a almost Dinan 325i
Whuped a Mustang twice
Current Ford score-> Cassie:12, Fords:2

I'm surprised that other 325 didn't pull away from you considering it had what it did. Whatev...But you gotta try taking on a 94-98 Stang GT. I still haven't, but beating a GT is one of my goals. Congrats mang!

The 96-98 GTs were only a little faster than that V6 he beat.

Good team effort...way to put another cocky V-6 "muscle car" owner in their place.

2004 and below.
V6 = Singular exhuast on left side
V8 = Dual exhaust

Current 2005 model
V6 = 2 headlights with singular exhaust
V8 = 4 headlights with dual exhaust.

Also, listen to how the car sounds when passing. V6 sounds like a wimp compared to the V8.

Re: Highway run with a V6 'Stang

If you see GT, Bullit, Mach 1, or Cobra(or a little cobra snake) its a V8. Another way is if you see 5.0 on the side. Also, nice races.

Re: Highway run with a V6 'Stang

since badges can easily be replaced by the 6bangers then id say look look at the exhaust. The badges are just too easy to take off and put a cobra on their v6. lame

Re: Highway run with a V6 'Stang

i usually tell by the wheels, the GT wheels on the 99-04 models are dif.(gunmetal? darker) than the premium package V6 (chrome) and base v6 models(plain), you can kinda tell by the hood too except the premium ones have the GT hood, single exhaust does nothing cause i have 2 friends w/ v6 stangs (97 and 2002) that have put dual exhausts on their cars

Re: Highway run with a V6 'Stang

Well alot of those ways are not entirely correct to tell a GT from a V6 particularly with the 99 and 2000 models. The best way to tell from the wheels are if they are stock only the GT and up came with 17 inch wheels, However the GT in 99 and 2000 could either have the 16 inch wheels (and the car was governed to 115 I believe) or the 17 inch wheels (not governed). Also in 99 and 2000 the hood was the same as all the 99-04 models V6 hood. When it comes to the 99 cobra, the hood was also the same as the GT and V6 in 99, as was the bumper the same as the GT, which only varied from the V6 by hanging down a little lower and having cutouts for the exhaust pipes. Its also pretty common for V6's to have aftermarket Dual exhaust. It is honestly hard to tell and usually you need to have a combination of things to properly identify them.

Re: Highway run with a V6 'Stang

I think I raced a V6 mustang with dual exhaust. He was loud and shifting hard to catch up. I lost by a little with my Ion with a CVT tranny...a high 16s car.
