Trans Additive

Has anyone ever tried the Pro Blend additive that claims to keep the trans 40 to 60 degrees cooler?

Only thing I know of to keep a transmission that cool is an additional auxillary oil cooler. Jeggs makes an excellent, compact plate cooler. Want to extend transmission life and make sure it stays through the long haul? Bolt on a cooler. Additives have no place in a transmission if the fluid is fresh and meets GM's Dextron-III H specs. Seriously. Change at least the pan's sump every 35K miles, and change filter, gasket and pan sump fluid at 70~75K miles. Add an additional oil cooler to the one already present in the radiator... It will not break down on you *ever*. (Unless you beat the hell out of your gearbox)

Do you have any comments on Amsoil's ATF or other seafoam transmedic or AutoRX for transmissions to clean things out ???

Or simply just keep the fluids up-to-date and perform good routine maintenance....

Keeping the fluids up to date and performing routine maintenance is all you will need. ATF is EXTREMELY disperssant and detergent rich. It's neglect that saturates it with the grunge and gunk these other "cleaners" take out and acellerates the rate of fluid and transmission break-down even faster. Two quick fluid changes of what accumulates in the sump, 7500 miles within each interval after you have dropped the pan to swap your filter and gaskets will do more good than one huge "Shock" treatment of any solvent/cleaner product. And it will do it safely without massively loading up and clogging your filter. Or worse yet, cleaning a goopy lump of burned on/varnished ATF from somewhere deep in the tranny to plug up a passage in your valve body. Ho-boy...
