Battery light engine dieing.

99 w/2.7 started sputtering (briefly feels like power is cutting off along with transmission trying to shift into a lower gear with tach rising). One time the battery light remained on and then the ABS light came on and remained on until I shut car off and then restarted - no problems the next 30 miles during the daytime. Drive home at night no problems. Next day sputtering then the battery light. Tried once to restart, but nothing. Tried again, now starts lights gone and radio clock reset to 1200, but stations still there.

Re: Battery light engine dieing.

sounds like you are suffering from a weak battery or you have bad connections at your battery terminals. Make sure the terminals are clean and also if you have the original battery, now's a good time to replace it.

Re: Battery light engine dieing.

nope. I replaced the battery and the ground cable a couple months ago. Symtoms before that were - dead battery - changed battery and got worse. Wouldn't even jump. Neg Post clamp had corroded all except a thread. When I pulled the battery back out 1/2 of clamp was twisted up. Changed post clamp. Everything was normal until hot weather hit.

Re: Battery light engine dieing.

sounds like you have a charging problem, either a bad alternator or a bad computer which controls voltage regulation.
