front tires wearing fast then back...
the front tires on my 1999 Honda CRV is wearing out alot quicker then my back ones... to fix this i just get my tires rotated right? cant i do this myself, just take the front ones off and put em in the back and vice versa?

Re: front tires wearing fast then back...
Yes, that would prolong the life of your set. Heavy FWD Vehicles especially small SUV's and Minivans wear out their front tires much faster than their wears. For balance reasons, its usually a good idea to keep the Lefts on the left and the Rights on the right too.

Re: front tires wearing fast then back...
still, if all the wheels drive the car, only the front ones steer. this alone will put more wear on the front than the back. AWD vehicles are made to grossly understeer from the factory as a safety precaution. this means that the front tires are designed to have less traction than the back ones to keep your back end behind you where it belongs. this makes for more wear on the front.

Re: front tires wearing fast then back...
oh ok... so i went to getem rotated but the guy at goodyear said i should jus replace them because they have cracks all over the place... i thought those cracks were normal and not a big deal? the cracks were on the tire itself, not on the sidwall or anything... wat u thing?

Re: front tires wearing fast then back...
depends on whether those cracks are part of the tread or not
this is tread ![]() every tire has a different pattern, but they are all a Pattern so if there are extra cracks then its bad

Re: front tires wearing fast then back...
ya cracks that arent tread is dry rot... not good, it weakens the integrity of the tire and can cause a blow out.

Re: front tires wearing fast then back...
also, the way AWD CRV's are set up, the Front wheels primarily drive the car unless one of them slips, then torque is sent to the rear wheels.

Re: front tires wearing fast then back...
Normally the outer edge of the front tires always wear more than the rears. Proper inflation will help to minimize this tendency but not eliminate it. Regular rotation will help to balance out this effect by spreading it across all four tires. Not taking corners so fast will help even more. I've had tires with 8X,XXX miles that were worn pretty much even all the way across.
