ABS and Brake light on

Hi,

I have a 2000 S4 where the ABS and Brake light keeps coming on. I know that when this happens you should replace the brakes. I have replaced all the brake pads and rotors (front and back). But the light still comes on. I took it to a local European Aotu shop and they ran a qiuck scan on it and found nothing. Any ideas??? Thanks.

Re: ABS and Brake light on

Does light come on and stay on or stay on or flicker or just flash randomly? Does it do it in response to braking, if so what kind of braking ie. just when you brake hard or as soon as you touch the pedal? If none of this appears to have any bearing it could be a dodgy dash light but it sounds like a short somwhere.

Re: ABS and Brake light on

The ABS light comes on and the brake lights blink. Drive for a while then it shuts off then comes back on. This does not happen evertime I brake. Before I replace the rotors and pads, the ABS and Brake light would come on and the brake light would blink. Once I replaced the rotors and pads, it happens randomly. Sometimes it comes on and sometimes it does not.

Do you have brake lights?

If not then you need to replace the brake light switch "common failure".

If that doesnt fix it, most likely something to do with speed sensors or possible abs control module.
