Underdrive Pulleys A Joke?

i have a stealth auto dohc and 8 inch wide tires which are very soft, but i was wondering if any body else who has the same setup as me can even get the tires to spin without turning? also has anyone tried underdrive pulleys and do they do anything but make your lights dim? i have seen the light weight but same size pulleys from 3sx performance or somthn but do they work either?

Re: Underdrive Pulleys A Joke?

I dont have them but know of plenty of people with one and yes they work. THe 3sx ones are at a major advantage being of the same size. Most of the power is gained from loss of weight, not loss of size.

Re: Underdrive Pulleys A Joke?

I am not sure what my tire width is... Doing calculation 245mm -> 9.6inch? Anyways I am running a summer compound and pretty much no... I can get them to squeak if I screw up my launch (it's manual) but I can't spin them unless it's in the rain...
Yes the pulleys help... I don't have it but put in a lightweight flywheel (where you can reduce a little more rotating mass) and you can definitely tell when you accelerate in first and second gear. Although it also makes your car idle a little funny while the ECU tries to figure out how much gas it takes to slow down the engine without stalling it.

Re: Underdrive Pulleys A Joke?

There is a debate as to the safety of underdrive pulleys. If I were you, I'd do a search and at least read up a bit more on them, so you can make your own decision.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Underdrive Pulleys A Joke?

I have 255 45 zr17's and if i launch above 2000 rpms it does nothing but spin and they will give a pretty good squall everytime i power shift into second so if you cant spin the tires on your 3s theres somethin wrong with it. And yes the underdrive pulleys are great.

LOL! My car is 13 years old... If I dropped the clutch while reving the engine, something's gonna break.

Re: Underdrive Pulleys A Joke?

Bad compression, bad oil consumption and 245 tires and my SOHC will smoke the shit out of the tires.
