Broken shifter on '99 Intrigue

The old button that you were to depress to shift gears busted off. I bought a new assembly off an old car for $40 that is in descent condition. I just want to replace that shifter knob. I pulled out the retaining clip and it's not budging. Is there something else that I need to worry about or is the knob supposed to actually slip off like I hope it is supposed to. If so, what do I use to get it off, it wont budge.

once that clip pops out it should be fine. i had to do the same thing to mine, but i went to a stealership and bout a brand new one for $28

i have this same problem with my 2001 where can i find a new button for the sheifter? also my drivers side power seat wont move forward or back ward olny up and down could it be the switch?

if the button is gone, youll need to buy a new assembly, like i said its less than 30 bucks. it is just the top part above the leather

now for the power seats im not sure, i have a GX. but mine failed in my old maxima, check the fuse for them.

if the fuse is good, the motor may have gone bad. frankly it sounds like the horizontal motor since it will still go up and down.
