installing strobes/siren into a vehicle
Previously had a ford explorer that was very easy to work on. I will be installing strobes/siren in my new trailblazer. I was hoping you guys could help me out. I just have a few questions.
1. on the high beam headlamp wire, does anybody know the color of the positive feed to the headlamp switch? 2. how do i take the grill off of the trailblazer. i dont see any screws, just those snaps. im afraid to force them off and break the grille. 3. does anyboldy know how to take off the rear quarter panel in the back part of the trunk on the passenger side. there seems like plenty of room behind there to hide all my wiring and power supplies. any other wiring suggestions related to this vehicle will be helpful as i will be putting in about 100 ft of wiring into this vehicle. thanks |

Hey... let me know what you are installing... Not the easiest to pass wires from the cab to the front. Check out my pics for what I did to mine. 6 strobes, 2 LED's, Backup flashers, no siren yet.
Use caution drilling into the headlight housings (if you are going to put strobes in here)... causes alot of dust which does not come out of the lamp easily. One thing I am really pissed about. Stick with the headlight flashers, if that is what you are putting up front. Grille comes off really easily, just start at the top, pop out the 2-3 clips, go to the corner of the center piece by the headlight and just start gently pulling. My power supply is underneath my rear seat. Strobe pack was small enough to fit in the middle. Flasher pack is in the left rear quarterpanel (this gives best access to rear lighting)

I will be installing headlight flasher, 4 led grille, and then 2 hideawawyas in the fogs and 4 hideaways to the rear. i didnt feel like drilling the headlight assembly, the fog lights look much easier.
do you have any tips on how to remove the rear quarterpanel? im guessing its held on by more than screws. as far as moving wires, i typically run the strobes tubes under the car and then for my switch wires, i found a nice big grommet that i am just going to drill a hole in. i dont think i can mount my pack under the seats, as there is already the onstar power supply and rear fuse block under the seats. |

Re: installing strobes/siren into a vehicle
Very nice... when I did the flasher pack in the rear, I was not able to pull the panel either, I ended up just running long wires and then pulling the panel out from the tailgate end just far enough to get the pack into the spot.
My friend and I do all the custom lighting installs for the volunteers and police in my town and I found my own TB to be one of the hardest to work on, the impala was the second! My old Tahoe was by far the easiest! Good luck! If there is anything you need, email me! where do you run? -Joe

Re: Re: installing strobes/siren into a vehicle
Hello,
New to the forum... I am in the process of wiring up my Impala with some hide-a-way strobes in the headlights. I got the strobes in, but... How did you end up getting the cables into the car/trunk? Is there an easy way or super-secret pass through spot on the firewall? I agree that getting them into my 95 Tahoe was much easier! Thanks for your help. P.S. to all, if you remove the driver's side headlight on an Impala, there is quite a nice void spot for mounting a full size siren speaker (or two). Bigsig Quote:
