I think its time for a mustang

Ok,I have a mazda miata right now and its worth around 1500,my uncle has an 80s mustang convertable with the 5.0.I really think I should get it but I need to know about reliability and GAS MILEAGE.How bad is gas on one of these beasts.Because when school was in session I was averaging about 10-13 dollars a week on 87 octane gas in the miata. You do use 87 octane in a mustang right? The car has been very well maintained so how many miles do these engines usually give before they die?

Re: I think its time for a mustang

These cars are very reliable, as im sure just about everyone here with tell you. If its stalk, you should be able to get around 18ish mpg. I dont know what your miata is getting, but for a V8 thats not to bad. It would run just fine on 87 octane. Mine, even though the 4cyl, has gone for over 200k and all i needed to do it replace the head gasket! Ive also heard of the V8s going just as far. So yes, they run forever if you take care of them.

In reality you won't be any where close to what your miata is getting for gas, but it is completely worth it. A miata is a nice car and all but the mustang has raw power to it that you will be addicted to after you drive it one time. Take it for a test drive and let us know what you think then.

coming from your uncle it might be bone stock which is great for your gas milage one drive in that stang and you won't care how much it costs to fill the tank.
