I just got this 2001 Ford Taurus SES, very nice looking car. This car only had one owner ( I run a Carfax report) The LCD for the radio is out but the radio still works, I already checked the dim ligth switch and it is OK.
The lights inside of the car will stay on sometimes for about 1 minite or so. This happens when I start the car, it doesn't matter if the car is in P or D or R. The front panel shows a door being open. I alrady check the doors and the trunk too. This morning I tried the Cruise Control for the first time and it worked but I couldn't shut it off with the OFF buttom. It only went off when I press on the brake pedal. I will apreciate any comments please. Carlos M. |

The door ajar light and the dome light staying on are probably due to stuck door latches. Use WD-40 or some other decent lubricant on all 4 door latches and work them a few times.
My best guess on the cruise control is a bad switch, but others may have suggestions. |

They're in the doors. Trust me, you'll see it when you go look. You'll see the hook on the door that they latch on to. You just have to lubricate the swinging latch on the door that moves.
Try opening and closing your door very slowly and watch what happens and lubricate the moving parts. Then work the latch with your hands or open and close the door a few times. |

Thanks Sfontain for taking time.
I also have another problem that I forgot to mention. Please help if you can. I also have no ligths on the dashboard, let me specified this a little bit better. I think that you are supposed to see the car gears (P,R,D,etc) under the part where the mileage is display right? it is just above the steering. Thanks in advance, Carllos M. |
