Angry Ball Joints

I have to change the ball joints on my 99 Silverado. I have been doing some research on what I need and I see that the lower is just a ball joint but the upper is ball joint and "A" arm $$$$$$. I was just looking for any feed back on best prices for items, how easy or hard it is to change or any other ideas.

Thanks

Re: Ball Joints

I'm not sure about the upper but I just did the lower on my truck and it was pretty straight foward. Had to drill out the 4 rivets (7/16"). If you have an angle drill, it's pretty easy drilling otherwise you'll need to pry up on the upper arm to get a straight drill to fit in there to drill straight. Then the new one just bolted in. Took me about 40 min to do one lower ball joint, most of that was drilling. The lower balljoint was $56 at O'rilley's.

FYI, the reason I had to replace mine, I was installing lift spindles and I could not get the lower one to let go. I used a pickle fork, a 4lb sledge and even oxy/acc torch to try and warm it up. So, I hope your lets go easier than mine did.

As for the uppers, I havent done mine yet.
