k20a into a 94 dx coupe?
how hard of a swap would it be, and would i be able to smog it in cali if it is reffed?

Have you ever done a B-series swap before? If you haven't then chances are the K-series swap is way out of your league. Go with something easier to swap first, get experience, and then consider it.

Good god, a K-series swap will be rediculous unless you have alot of experience with engine swaps and Hondas. My advice either stick to b-series or if you really insist in having a k series engine then have a shop do it bcuz I really dont think you'll be able to. And as for CARB...i have no idea I live in Illinois.

You mean take your friends car in and say its yours? I dont know for sure because here in the southeast our goal is to catch up with the pollution of the west coast so we have no regulations, but I would think they would check VIN numbers and things along that line to keep things like that from happening.

Depends on who is doing the inspection. If you know someone who is going to do it, you could get away with it. I know quite a few mechanics who do it now, ever since they started doing testing for '96+ cars in NY. But if you get caught, the person who inspected it will likely lose their inspectors license (or whatever it is) and possibly their job. But if you don't have someone else on the "inside" and show up with another car and claim it's yours, could be some problems for you.

they are supposed to check the vin and they scan a little bar code on the engine, you can do it if you know sombody that is willing to take the risk. plan on spending 200 to 500 on a smog certificate...... but there is still a few places in cali that dont require a smog to registar your car just proof of residencey(po box fake adress)
