Relays in Fuse/Relay Box

Can someone tell me the function of of each of the three relays in the underhood Fuse/Relay Box on a 1995 Crown Victoria?

I've seen several posts that have made reference to one of these relays being for the A/C clutch control. After removing all three, the compressor clutch still engages so I know that's not one of the functions.

There are four relay locations described by Ford as being Relay 1, Relay 2, Relay 3, and Relay 4. The glove compartment "owners guide" does not define the function of these relays.

On my vehicle, Relay 1 is closest to the right front fender and Relay #1 is not installed. I did determine that the Relay #2 is for the Horn.

What do the others do? And... Where is the A/C On-Off Relay if it's not in this box?

Re: Relays in Fuse/Relay Box

If you have ABS the other is the ABS relay

I didn't know that the manual was valiable on-line. Can you please post the link? I would appreciate any help.

I went to AutoZone and looked in the haynes manual... schematic of most everything in there except the AC system. And it says nothing much about relay functions for those in the black box.

I know there is a relay somewher that is controlled by the ECM to turn off compressor on Wide Open Throttle... Just no one has told me where it is located so I can chech out the relay and do a trace of wires from there.

Please e-mail me the link to the manual or post it here. My email address is charles_neff@) (leave this out)yahoo.com

Regards

Re: Relays in Fuse/Relay Box

The A/C relay is located on the drivers fender in a small plastic box that has 3 relays and a diode in it. If you have cruise control, it sits just in front of the servo.
