Purge Solenoid 2000 Blazer

Check Engine light came on...indicated the problem was the Purge Solenoid. Are they pretty easy to install??? The shop said it was located near the firewall...

Thanks,
York

Re: Purge Solenoid 2000 Blazer

If it's the same as my '98, then yes, very easy. Just a little fuel vapor line on the side, an electrical connector, two bolts (I think it was two) and then a good tug (there's an o-ring that fits pretty snug into its port). Mine was on the passenger side near the back of the manifold. Only took about 5 minutes to get it out and back in again. Out of curiosity, what code did your ECM give? Was it P0440 or some other?

Purge Solenoid

you know, I should've asked. I thought it was my vapor box near the gas tank so I brought it into the dealer because they had just replaced it...but it turned out to be this. I didn't even ask them for the code. They wanted to charge me $150 to put in the Purge Solenoid...no way! I just went on Rock Auto and bought one. I'm just hoping I don't screw anything up by trying to do it myself. The service department said it was fairly tough to get to, but I don't really take them at their word.
