Question Where is the scam?????

Hi,
I am trying to buy a second hand car online and I found one guy that sell a Audi TT very cheap, in fact half of the price of the market.
The first thing I thought was a print mistake so I ask him to confirm the price and year of the car, and the guy replyed me that the price was right and he expla. So I thought was a scam.
Then he explained me how to make the deal; he will ship the car to me and I will pay through a 3 part. I told him that I don’t want any 3 part that I will go and collect the car my self. Then he said no problem, but I should send money to “me” (no to him) by Western Union and send him a copy of the receipt, for he has a garranty that I will go and make the deal. But I told him that I will not send the recipt as there is a number on it “secret” necessary to collect the money. And the guy said that fine, just send a copy of the receipt with out the number. I asked him to send me the documentation of the car…I was thinking that he will not reply any more……..but next day he sent me his ID (with his photo, name, address) and the documentation of the car!
So I was wondering where is the scam here, because still I can not believe that anyone could sell a so nice car so cheap but this guy sent me his ID and the document of the car.
Does any one know where is the scam?

Re: Where is the scam?????

Are you going to be forking over the cash before you take delivery of the car? If so that would be the scam...Also never buy a car without looking at it in person or having someone you trust a hell of a lot look at it in person.

Western Union is a very insecure way to transfer money between mere acquaintances for business purposes. I only recommend it for sending money to friends or family members.

where is the scam?

I told him that I want to see the car my self and I will not do the payment by any company, I will do the deal and colect the car my self. and he replyed me that "no problem" I could go and see the car first and go 1 hour drive test and then make the payment and take the car with me.
About the Western Union; He suggested that some one (a friend, family), send money to “me” so to my name (not to the name of the guy) and he only want to see a copy of the receipt, but with out the serial number necessary to withdraw the money. He wanted to see this just to be sure that I really will go to see the car, as I will not send money to my self and will not go to withdraw the money.

Re: Where is the scam?????

Just remember the old saying... If the deal is too good to be true, it probably isn't! Before you go, get the VIN and check Carfax and stolen vehicles as well as salvage or flood vehicle. Ask for a picture of the VIN and of the title showing it is clear and no other leinholders. I wouldn't take a drive to look at it until I got this information.
