2002 Headrest Removal...

Newbie here. Anybody know how to remove the headrest on a seat in this vehicle? There is no visible release, pulling up briskly only results in a dead stop (on what seems to be only the right post). I can't imagine I have to force it any harder than I already have??? What am I missing?

Scott,

As long as you see "Views" of your message, it usually means that no one knows the answer to your question. I know I didn't.

Would you like to share what you found?

Take Care,

Take Care,
Sure. There are recesses in the vertical bars on the headrest - these lock the headrest into several different height adjusting positions. The adjuster "locks" it in place with a small spring loaded pin sitting perpendicular to the bar inboard of the bars. I cut a slim piece of aluminum roof flashing (approx 3/4" or less x 5") and I was able to fish down along the bar into the seat top outboard of the bar then rotate around to the inboard side effectively pushing the pin back and blocking the detent positions on the bar. If you start on the inboard side you will not get past the pin. If you have two bars with notches it needs to be done to both simultaneously before pulling the headrest out. Slide the headrest out keeping the flashing in place to block lower detent positions as they rise.
