I have finally sorted through the some 300 plus photos taken at Coal Creek and updated my website in the Roadtrips section. For a further look at our pre-run to Coal Creek, stop by.

Nice pics and nice write-up. Is that the first busted idler arm in your group? I'm starting to get cautiously curious about our steering components now. Is this a problem the idler-arm truss would definitely fix?

Jens, you have the idler arm brace on your rig. I think that you shouldn't be too worried about your idler arm. Tie rods and centerlink is a different story though.

Keep in mind that your torsion bars aren't cranked, and that you are running stock offset wheels with 31"s. Your steering components will hold up much longer than those who have lifts, and larger tires.

Ian bent a Moog idler arm (which is stronger but can't be coupled with a brace) recently. The problems with the IA are simply bending them, or the bushings on the OEM-style ones wearing out.
