14b finally in!
Well, after about 6 hours total working on my car, the 14b is in. It pulls extremely hard at 10psi and I still need to fine tune it. I have somwhat funny story though that happens towards the end of it. Here it goes
After I had everything installed and double and triple checked the water lines and oil lines, I drop my car and turn the engine over for about a min or two in 10 sec intervals. I start the car and it takes a sec to balance out the sound, but its really loud. I turn the car off and back on and its the same sound, so I get out and try to listen a bit better....I realize that I forgot to bolt on the downpipe all the way LOL, the screws were just sitting there. So I jack the car up and bolt it on, sounded a lot better lol. On another note, I think my radiator fan is squeeking because I start the car and it sounds like metal sqeeking for a couple seconds, not loud and constant, and after I run the car for a while, turn it off, then on, it doesnt do it. Its def not the turbo lol. Ne ideas?

Re: 14b finally in!
There's nothing wrong with an open o2 housing
![]() My 95 has no exhaust after the o2 right now... I've driven about 10 miles with it off... sounds terrible like a tractor but the car instantly felt much faster and the turbine wheel makes the car sound like a space ship. Awesome. |

Re: 14b finally in!

Re: 14b finally in!
Yea, you should deffinitly rewire it as soon as possible. Its not that hard, but make sure you have everything need before you start. I had to run to the store like 3 or 4 times in my mom's car.

Re: 14b finally in!
Is there a better faq then the one at vfaq? I understand it somewhat but Im somewhat confused on some parts, maybe im just retarded. Is it easier then I think it is lol?

Re: 14b finally in!
Its simpler than it looks. There are various vfaqs for different model DSMs, but read them all since some are better at explaining certain aspects of the job IIRC.
This is basically what it is. The stock wire is too small. You run a larger wire from the battery, and control it with a relay. The trigger for the relay is the stock wire, that way it comes on whenever the ECU tells it to, just like stock. So on the power terminals (normally open) you have the large wire from the battery, and the large wire to the pump. On the coil terminals you have the stock wire on one, and a ground on the other. You should also rewire the pumps ground wire, I tied mine to a rear seat bolt with a ring terminal. Thats all there is to it. The hard part is getting all the wire colors in the stock harness back there so you know what wires to use, and gathering all the little terminals and things you need. Anything larger than the stock 18 guage crap will do, but most people do 10 or 12 guage because its plenty large and easy to find. Some poeple even buy a 15 dollar amp install kit at walmart, since it comes with the 20 feet of 10 or 12 guage wire, and some crimp on terminals. The relay is about 5 bucks, just a standard bosch automotive relay, like one you'll find in the fog light section at an autoparts store. The vfaq should have a few pics of it, maybe a part number. HAve fun. Its a pretty easy job, just take your time and do it right. Crimp everything tight, and tape things up well, etc.
