how hard is it to....
how hard is it to install an ac compressor on our blazers. i have a 95 lt 4x4. what tools would i need or is this something better left to a shop.
im just tryin to get an action plan here. thanks

if your looken to install air on your vehical, its expencive, i looked into it, and stopped looen into it when i came up with a grand in parts alone, not including the beer that would fuel me n' my cousin as we worked on it for he says 3 days or so

I just replaced my A/C compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube yesterday, it's fairly easy on a 98. Took about an hour. $300 for all the parts, oil and freon.
It may be a little more difficult on a 95, because the engine is set up differently. It shouldn't be that hard though. I just checked and the parts for a 95 are cheaper than the ones for a 98. No special tools are required....the lines take larger wrenches than most sets include, if you don't have large wreches you can use a couple pairs of channel locks. Luckily I have wreches up to 2" so it wasn't an issue for me. Don't use the cans of oil charge, get a little bottle of PAG 150 oil. Use the oil on all the new seals and o-rings. Pour 2 or 3 ounces into the compressor and then turn it by hand to make sure it is lubed up. If you are replacing the accumulator (requirement for compressor warranty) pour a couple ounces into it as well. The orifice tube goes in the bottom line exiting the evaporator housing. You can fill the system yourself and it will work fine, but if you have a shop do it you will get colder air, because they can remove the air that got into the system while it was apart. FYI If you get your parts from autozone... Their computers in the store show the wrong part number for the accumulator. It should be part # 33140. The website shows the right number, but for some reason the store is wrong.
