1993 4.6L Overheating problem..............
guys on my former post ,i changed the line underneath the intake. I thought this was my problem but seems it blowed this hose due to overheating.
i have changed thermostat, fan appears tight, water pump no play or leaks. where do i go from here ? my fatherinlaw is in hospital(cancer) and we are going back and forth daily about 40 mile round trip. car runs around the "o" on the "norm" at first start and above the "r" as the day gets hotter. will reach the "m" also. it has always run slightly above the "o" even with ac on. how do i chk waterpump for circulation.? |

Re: 1993 4.6L Overheating problem..............
just because you changed the thermostat does not mean its working, before you put one in you should hold a lighters flame up to it to make sure it opens when the heat is applied. also make sure your clutch fan is working properly. finally if you have fluid in the radiator the only other thing i would think of is getting a different water pump

Re: 1993 4.6L Overheating problem..............
got fan off, it turns counter clockwise. removed water pump and it looks as new.
checked thermostat in a pan of water, opened at correct temp. put it all back together and left shrould off. took it for a spin until gauge got above the "r" the bottom part of radiator is cold all the way across and the top part is hot all across. is this normal or is it clogged. flushed it good and nothing ugly came out. |

Jimmy, you were right. replaced radiator this morn and let it idle a long time with ac on then took it for a test run. temp gauge is holding at the "o"

Glad it worked out! 12 years is ok on a radiator. It was probably due.
