1996 Ford Explorer AC problems
I have a couple of problems with the AC. First one is where is the automatic temperature control sensor. I read in another post that it is located in the center of the dash. Does anyone have any specifics? Also, when going to charge where is the low line connector. I have a 96 Explorer EB with the 5.0.....thanks for any help

If I may ask, why do you think it needs charged? There are various other problems that can cause a non-cooling condition.

If I could find the automatic temperature control sensor, I was going to check it first, and then charge after that. I was having intermittent problems with the climate control, heat and air unpredictable and now no air at all. thought it could be a combination of things

Ford's manual says it is behind the top center of instrument panel. It should be close to the 4X4 mode switch in the dash. The diagram does not show a really good location. The module itself is the complete EATC control head in the dash.

Well my experience with the blasted thing was 350.00 a husband who wouldn't stop and listen. It started with my heater in the winter, it would not blow if you shut the door to hard it would kick on. It was like sitting next to a radaint heater. Then summer came around and the ac of course does the same thing. Low and behold it took my husband not paying attention hitting a raised railroad track at 45. worked ever since. I have had to had it recharged once my experience with that it it still blows it just does not cool. A mechanic friend told me that A/C and the heater work together it uses he A/C to pull the moister out of the air when it heats. I don't know any truth to that but obviosly something works together on them.
