Gt Or Cobra?

I Am Considering Purchasing A Gt, But Then I See The Cobra, It Makes Me Think. I Want A 99-04. What Are Good Choices? Should I Spend The Extra Money For The Cobra? I Think A Cobra Will Be Like 5,000 More Than A Gt, And With That 5,000 I Could Just Supercharge The Gt, And Be Faster Than The Cobra Correct? Anyone Please Let Me Know. And If There Are Any Sites That Would Help Me Out. Thanks

What year of Cobra? An '03/'04 will run you anywhere from $20-$30,000. The average price is around $25,000. That's very close to an '05 GT.

The thing is most Cobras are a bit more than a GT, except for the latest '03/'04s which is different by a whole lot, but not for much. The thing is the '03/'04 respondes to mods very, VERY well. The engine and drive-line can take 1000 hp while a GT will begin to break after 450-500.

If you want a GT to be like this you're going to have to convert to DOHC, get forged internals, 6-speed tranny, and many heavy duty and high performance parts including a blower.

We need to know what you're starting with here. If you have $20,000 then you should save up a little more and get the '03/'04 Cobra. If you only have around $13,000 then you should get a late model GT. You might be able to get a wrecked Cobra but don't hold your breath.

Convert to DOHC? Get a 6 speed? ...what? A supercharged GT with no other mods won't be faster than a stock 03/04 cobra. Plus, you'd begin breaking things. If you have the money..you shouldn't have to be told to get a cobra.

Re: Gt Or Cobra?

Not as bad as you would think, remember insurance companies go on what wrecks the most, and the better brakes/suspension keep the Cobra up there in the safety department.

That's another reason to go with the Cobra, the brakes and suspension are vastly improved over a GT....

A Corvette then would have cheap insurance but it's insurance is through the roof.
