The future of Mankind

Do you ever wonder how long mankind will be around? Will there still be humans on earth in 1000 years? How about 10,000 years and beyond? What will our planet be like then?
Humans put a lot of stress on their environment, with population growth, pollution, wars, etc. Combine this with any number of possible natural phenomenon and I often wonder how mankind's future will play out.

Re: The future of Mankind

I think in the next couple of hundred years we'll get good enough at space travel that we'll be able to get to Mars and the moon fairly easy. With that I think we'll last longer than a 1,000 but won't make 10,000.

As to what Gottie said, as they say in T2, "It's in our nature to destroy ourselves." I find it hard to believe for a "united" peace around the whole world and/or solar system, ect. There is always going to be somebody who wants to fuck it up and the shit will hit the fan.

Right now, if every single nuke in the world went off, what would be left? There wouldn't be one square inch that wouldn't be glowing in the dark and every single person would be dead.

In the next couple of years fusion will be our main power source and if it gets in the wrong hands you'll have the power of the sun able to en-gulf the entire Earth.

Personally, I think the human race will be able to make it is if we learn light-speed travel and are able to travel the galaxy. We'll be so spread out it'll be impossible to destroy all of us.

A thousand years. The stupid are reproducing at such an alarming rate! I'll be ashes by then, but hope the young ones in the future realize the problem.

That's not true. No matter how much we like to tell ourselves that, I've heard from some very smart people that it would be currently impossible to kill every single person on the planet at once. The radiation might get to them later though... who knows?

A war will end it sooner as long as people have the need for power.

I'll give it 49 months. That should be enough to get my car paid off.
