OK, I have a 99 GM LSE. When I would drive at a slower speed (35 or so) and encounter a hill, the car would stutter a little until I stepped on the gas more. When on the highway, I would coast for a little and then step on the gas and it will do the same thing - stutter for a little and then stop. I thought this was a transmission problem, so I took it to the local transmission shop and they said the tranny is fine, it is an engine performace problem. I noticed today, that it seems to be better on days that are less humid. Any thoughts as to where I should start looking? Plugs? Wires?
Thanks for any help you can give on that one! Also, when I put a turn signal on. It will blink normally for a little while and then start blinking at about twice the speed. It is totally random and seems to lessen when I turn the headlights on. Any thoughts here? Thanks again! |

im guessing plugs because i had the same prob now if u take and get a bottle of plaing tap water and start spraying the wires you should beable to see which one is is bad also make sure its running and as for the turn signal replace the flasher and that should solve your prob

Re: Engine Stuttering and Turn Signal Blink Rate
Yep, plugs, cap, and rotor, and wires if they're old. As far as spraying them, if one is bad, all the others aren't so good either, so worth replacing the set.
Signals blinking different speeds/headlights = weird electrical problems. I'd check first at the positive battery cable. If it's a little corroded, it could be causing the problems you're talking about. I've had 2 Mercuries with corroded positive cables, and both acted very oddly until I replaced it. Make sure your battery is clean of acid buildup, clean with a solution of baking soda and water (it will fizz a bit) and rinse well once finished.
