polish/ clear

when is it too late to add a few coats of clear?? let say i started to compound/polish/wax a non metallic paint.. Don't like the shine. or lack of it. Can i basically just wash the body and add the clear in the future??

reason i not clearing it ahead of time is weather related.. 90F+ and humidity is very very high. not gonna risk repainting 5 bodies..

Try spraying in a air-conditioned room.. But make sure the fan is not on swing mode.. Best to let it blow down, meaning push the lovure down all the way..

BUT muz be able to bear the smell and stand the nagging of whoever owns the room..

Clear is not going to behave well if sprayed over wax. You may be able to strip it off with compound, and then scrub off the compound.

Re: polish/ clear

I suggest that you don't try to put on any paint after waxing the thing. No matter how sand and/or wash it you'll most likley end up with wax ressidue that will ruin further painting. I have this little spot on a two tone paint job that totaly refuses to take any paint. No matter how I sand and clean it stays that way. If you think it's worth a try, by all means go ahead and try. Be prepared to strip the whole thing though and start over again.

Re: polish/ clear

It wont work over wax. But I have sprayed clear over Novus #2 and Tamiya rubbing compounds.
