95 Passat-Used-What's the deal with the Relays
Howdy,
I have a 1995 Passat GLX VR6 Automatic Wagon. I got it about 2 months ago for $3400 and it had (wait for it....) 56k on it! Seriously. Its in great condition, but the guy who owned it last was a little do DYI without enough INFO! So he did some stupid things with the car. Long story short, I like my VW pristine and since the block had such low miles on it, I dropped some cash on it to make it cherry. I just redid the entire cooling system (yes folks-ALL OF IT-name it and its new) and car runs at a solid 204 F all the time. Replaced the condensor and A/C drier receiver and got a evact and recharge. Replace some other hoses as well, new engine mounts, new middle and end muffler, new ignition switch, Pan and filter (2X) on the ATF fluid (Lifetime closed Tranny? yeah right!), and the list goes on...
Needless to say my test drive tonight was AWESOME! It was worth it.
However, I am trying to figure out a RELAY situation. I have the lower dash pulled out and I'm checking out my fuses. It seems that I'm missing the relay in position #1 in the upper right hand of the lower fuses. Its the A/C relay fuse (#133) and its simply not there. However, the A/C works great and the fan kicks on whenever I hit the A/C.
So I'm asking....Do I need it? ITs like $75 online and I am unsure why its not there. I would err on the side of spending the money, but I want to make sure....
I was thinking maybe it was taken out when they redid the wire harness for the fan (Recall). But my Bentley manual says nothing about it.
I am also searching for the darn 5amp cruise control fuse....its somewhere laughing at me...
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
TG
