Are these sites for real

Has anybody ever had any experience with sites like www.driversbiz.com before. It looks like a scam right away... but I do see cars in my area wrapped with advertising for movies, TV, products etc. so just wondering.

Re: Are these sites for real

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is a scam.

I have seen cars that are wrapped, but the thing is I don't think they're free, I think it works like a rental car.

You're probably right Davo... and yeah those wrapped cars could be rentals, or just given to employees working for the company.

I've seen a news report on these things and they are real. I'm not sure about that exact web site but there are companies out there that pay you to advertise for them with your car

Basically, if you buy a new car and go to one of these companies they pay you a certain amount so they can decorate your car in advertisements. The bigger your car is and the more ellaborate you allow them to get with the decorations the more money they give you a month.

However the legit sites won't charge you to sign up - they get paid by the advertisers! Check this out - http://www.ad-wraps.com/driversinfo.htm

Re: Are these sites for real

Ayep, I recall VW Bugs all painted over for Kool cigarettes and other stuff. In fact, I saw a Red Bull S-10 around town recently, asked the guy about it, he said he gets paid around 1K monthly for the stuff they put on.

However, in this specific instance, Red Bull demands a log of miles driven and lots of paperwork, to have the guy "prove" that the truck doesn't just sit in the driveway, but gets driven around a LOT for exposure.

My thinking is to not bother, I ran some subjective #'s on what the Red Bull guy told me, and it breaks down to only around $100 month after all the gas used, the maintenance of the extra miles, and the fact that the ride is sort of useless for it's original purpose [in that you have to keep it up, wash it, wax it, can't go through a puddle or haul a cord of wood, etc. etc.]
