92 e36 A/C electrical problem PLZ Help

my '92 e36 A/C doesn't work. the a/c button and the recirculation button do not work and it isn't the button or the control panel itself I replaced it, the rear defrost does work so i was thinking a relay or something of the sort

I had that same problem a few months ago and I checked everything and changed the control unit and it still didn't work. As a last resort I went down to a BMW shop in Fort Lauderdale and had it diagnosed, (for 20 bux) and guess what, it was the darn evaporator temperature sensor that was bad. The bad part is that it is a dealer item and cost about $50, the good part is that it is relatively easy to change. It is accessed from the driver's side and it is a probe with a black plug that is in the heater/ac box directly in front of the console.
After I bought it at the dealer I did find it on-line for about $28, but AI can't remember where I saw it. You may want to search for it.
Good luck
Kris

Re: 92 e36 A/C electrical problem PLZ Help

I have a 2002 - 330 convertible. I am having an intermitent problem where the A/c blows warm sometimes. The dealer checked the refrigerant levels and of course the problem happens only once in a while. They said they need to see it when it happens. Left it at the dealer and they can't duplicate the problem. It is not a leak as they checked with a dye. Anyone else have this problem??
