Tire issues

Has anyone ever felt a tire that has blown it steel belts? I was on the Mass Pike traveling at 85 mph when it felt like I hit a small animal. The car vibrated for about 30 seconds and after I stopped I couldnt find any visible damage. After having my mechanic check the car he found that the steel belts were broken inside and were exposed on the inside edge of the tire. Bottem line is, what brand of tire would someone recommend for a lot of highway travel?? Thanks Rich

Put the same tire that you had on there. Dont start mixing different brands of tires. DOnt have 1 good tire and 3 other bad ones.
