Lightbulb Manuel to Auto change over?

Is it possible to take an AW4 tranny and T-case out of an 88 XJ and install it into a 90 Wrangler? Both have the 4.0 ltr engine. Could I just change out the tranny and reinstall the original T-case onto the AW-4?

Re: Manuel to Auto change over?

Perhaps, but consensus I've seen here is that it's more cost effective to buy a different Jeep. There's a lot of work involved, from the bell housing possibly being different, to tailshaft lenth (requiring different length front/rear driveshaft lengths) mounting points, etc.

I recall a post on here somewhere, the guy is thinking about changing from an Auto to a Manual. Maybe a trade....

I dont know if this helps, its more of a GM engine swap site, but it does sell adapter plates.

Just a shot in the dark on my behalf
