It could be that when you are in gear, the car will idle slightly higher than if you were in neutral and just sitting there. 1200 rpm is not all that bad if you are sitting at a light. Just be happy it's not doing the opposite and idling lower than 700 or 800 rpm....

mine does the same, you check that idle screw? In the morning mine is about 900 and after it heats up it gets and stays around 1100-1200. I think its just when the idle screw heats up it moves around and "adjusts itself" correct me if Im wrong. Also when the fan goes on and off your rpms should vary up and down 500-600 unless you dont have AC like me

also could be your cold air idle thingy when its cold it should idle higher and once your car warms up the coolant melts the thing and it should drop. but in your case it might be messed up just a thought. check the cold air idle sensor thing forgot what its called exacly.

Re: high rpms!!!!
Car should idle 700-800rpms. Anything much higher is not normal. It would be more common too see slightly high rpsm when your first turn on the engine, than after it has been on.

okay taking out your primary o2 sensor(the one on the header) will make your car run in "safe-mode" basically. You need that sensor in there because it's what decides your air/fuel ration without it your car is going to suck in performance and going to be running rich 24/7 which you don't want to do forever. Put it back in!!!! lol and see if it remedies this
