Its got 12.6v at battery but 10 at the key, no earth problem but lights dont work eaither nor does the fans. if key turned to position 2 and light switch pulled all voltage gone (no Lights tho) RAC reckon earthing prob in one of components??? Dont have a wiring diagram so trying hard to find one, HELP. Any ideas would be very welcome as wife not happy as we going on hols on Friday in the Van.

Re: Help, G20 (83) with dicky lectrics

I would suspect that there is a problem with either the ground connection or either battery cable connection at the battery. I had a vehicle that acted like a flat battery (lights would work, but a little dim). When you tried to start it everything would die. Removing the battery cables from the battery and cleaning everything fixed the problem. Other areas are the battery ground connection to chassis / engine, the cable ends themselves (especially if they are the type that clamp to the battery cable) and corrosion on any of the wiring connections.

[quote=RNRea]I thank you very much for your reply and you will be pleased to know the van is now running sweetly again as you were correct. The terminals at the battery were slightly corroded as were the connections at the starter motor plus the light switch had a loose connection thereby giving the 2volt drop.
Cheers
