rear windows stuck open

My rear electric windows are stuck open, the motors don't even respond. Is there a cheap cost effective way to get them replaced or just closed at this point? Thanks to anyone for help, will try to do the same if possible

There should be a few screws on the A piller just take them off and you can get acess to the motor and unhook it from the socket and turn in by hand and hook it back to the motor not very hard just takes a little studying. My passanger side went out. I had it working again but went out. The motor is weak and most likely need to be replaced. I think rocket auto parts .com had them. But as far as cheap replacement I dont think they were very much. A junk yard would be to risky because they are more than likely to give you more trouble because they are used. Check fuses first to make sure the problems dont come from them or the switches. hope this helps.

Re: rear windows stuck open

I think that on some years the rear windows are on different fuses than the main windows. If they both died at the same time I would tend to look for power problems either a fuse or switch or wire.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try both, and let you know what happens.

Re: rear windows stuck open

Hi
I have ongoing problems with my rear tilt outs. I have consistently found the problem to be the switches. Try (no kidding) rapidly tapping the switch with power on to close them. Works every time for me when they are unresponsive - they have never stuck closed just open. I have also disassembled the switch more than once and cleaned the contacts gently with an emory board. That fixed it for a long while. I guess the contacts must corrode faster than other switches on the van for some reason. BTW - '96 lx

rear windows stuck open

For a while I had to hit the buttons repeatedly also untill they just stopped working. I know someone else that mentioned that the switches were bad also. Thanks for the tip, I'll check the switches.
