Re: Two Cable's Behind Stock Radio?

if i can remember correctly, there is one for cd changer, one for power antenna and one for the stock amp. or maybe the cd changer plugged into the amp and there was just a cable for the amp and antenna....can't remember exactly, but you can't just 'hook up' a pioneer head unit to our cars...you have to bypass the amp and do a shitload of rewiring.

Well you got farther than I did. I was wondering how you got the dash apart to get the stock head unit out? I tried for hours to find where all the screws/bolts were, and could not get it apart. I ended up having it done by professionals, and they charged me a shit load, and I still don't know how to do it. Anybody got a good diagram or something of where all the screws are and the best way to do it? Or just explain where they all are, that would help too, for future reference.

Re: Two Cable's Behind Stock Radio?

Dash is simple. Pull off the face plate around the stereo use a scrw driver it pops out when you pull up. 1 screw and two pop rivits on each side of the console. 2 in front one next to your seat (just pull this comes out then), next you can see the mounting screws for the stereo on ach side. I took out the pocket first 4 screws. Then 4 for the stereo it's not too bad. But I had the same problem as you the first time.

Yup its simple just like Nova said. Except the center console for the 99 spyder might be slightly different. After popping out the face place around the stereo, in order for you to remove the center console you need to remove a total of six screws. Two underneath the radio face plate which you just popped off (easily viewable), two on each side of the center console towards the rear near the bottom and two underneath the cup holder/ashtray (need to pop up the cup holder/ashtray in order to get to it). Once the screws are removed you can shimmy off the the console. Lastly you need to remove the plugs connected to the lighter. Thats it!

btw, you can install a aftermarket head unit without all the re-wiring and it will work fine. I installed a Pioneer DEH-P8600MP head unit myself simply adding a Mitsubishi Eclipse radio harness. Once I installed the harness to the Pioneer Radio all I had to do was snap it into the factory harness and your done.

However, one thing I did notice and i believe its a common problem with 95-99 eclipse owners when replacing the stock head unit with an aftermarket, the tweeters do not work. Im sure there is a way around it, Can someone give me feedback on this?

I was wondering that also, which was why I thought about splitting the wires going to the front speakers with the tweeters in the dash. Does anybody think this is a good idea?

Re: Two Cable's Behind Stock Radio?

In my 1g I split the wires going to my dash speakers with tweeters I put in the back of the compartment under the cd player. I guess that would be basically the same situation you are in but I don't know what tweeters you are talking about.
